Nia Smart is a public health practitioner, consultant, speaker, and facilitator who has spent the last 10+ years supporting organizations and communities to connect, grow self-sufficiency, increase health literacy, and center people in every solution. Along the way, she discovered that real progress starts with honest, no-fluff conversation—talking with people the way she would want someone to talk with her: human to human, simple, and easy to understand. That approach helped her better understand her own health and wellbeing and inspired her to create Smart Conversations to help leaders and teams move from ideas to action.

Nia’s work is trusted by nonprofits, local governments, and national partners, and she’s known for people-centered solutions, interactive workshops, engaging keynotes, and results that help communities connect and grow. With experience working alongside federal, state, and local agencies, as well as nonprofits and community groups, she blends personal lived experience with over a decade of professional expertise and a warm, authentic style that brings the big points home.

When she’s not hosting a Smart Conversation, you’ll probably find Nia at a local coffee shop, enjoying live music, or planting new seeds—literal and figurative—in her community, learning from those already doing the work and finding ways to support rather than reinvent the wheel.
